After leaving Toronto on June 2 2022, we decided to add on “a few” more sites. We crawled our way through snarled traffic to Burlington. We then headed east a short distance to see the site of Canada’s other hammer stone, the 2009 Grimsby. Nestled between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment, Grimsby is a mix of farmland, fine heritage homes and rapid new development. We grabbed a quick meal and headed southwest through picturesque Hagersville and overnighted at the trailhead of the Backus Forest.
