Royal Alberta Museum - RAM

The RAM in Edmonton is known for its impressive displays of mammal, dinosaur and other fossils from Alberta as well as numerous cultural items. In addition, it has a very nice display of meteorites such as these Whitecourt pieces shown.

Manitou Asinîy

Its most important meteorite, though, is housed in a large separate, purposely-built and designed exhibit free to the public.

This meteorite goes by several names; Manitou Asinîy, the Creator's Stone, or Iron Creek. It is an iron object with a deep complex surface.

It was found and revered by First Nations people. Out of respect for the spiritual and cultural significance of this object, photography is not allowed.
